While private lessons are certainly not a requirement of the MVHS band program. All students can benefit from an individualized and specific focus on their specific music education needs. All students are encouraged to seek out a private lessons teacher. A list of local private teachers is linked below.

When searching for a private teacher:

1. Reach out to the teacher and see if they have room in their studio. 

2. If they do, consider a trial lesson to get started. It is very important for both student and teacher to feel comfortable with one another. This helps the student get the most out of each lesson.

Lessons are typically a weekly occurrence, although flexibility does exist with scheduling. While regular lessons provide the most reward to students, lessons to prepare for specific auditions, such as district honor band or all state, are still a good idea and can have a profound impact on the student's musical development.
