
DIXON PENDERGRASS
Director of Bands
Dixon Pendergrass is currently in his fourth year as Director of Bands at Mountain View High School. Previously, Mr. Pendergrass was the Assistant Director of Bands at South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia. While at South Forsyth, ensembles under the director of Mr. Pendergrass received consistent superior ratings at performance evaluations and the marching group received three grand championship trophies. He received his Bachelors of Music Education from the Schwob Conservatory of Music at Columbus State University in Fall of 2016. He studied saxophone under Dr. Amy Griffiths and Dr. Joseph Girard and studied wind conducting under Dr. Jamie Nix. While at Columbus State, he participated in the Wind Ensemble, Wind Orchestra, Schwob Jazz Orchestra, and various saxophone quartets.
Aside from being a saxophonist, Mr. Pendergrass was a performer with Drum Corps International, having marched with both Spirit of Atlanta and The Blue Devils. He has also spent time participating in conducting workshops at Georgia State University and Columbus State University to further develop his skills as an educator.
Mr. Pendergrass is a member of the National Association for Music Education, The National Band Association, and the Georgia Music Educators Association.
